The GroCo Gisborne 2010 Wines
The contracted grape growers of Gisborne faced a crisis in 2009 when a number of the large players cancelled grape supply contracts. This left the growers in a precarious situation. Facing the problem head-on, 34 growers banded together in a co-operative to make and market wines from their fruit, to ‘save their Gisborne souls'. Thus was formed ‘GroCo', with the labelling on the wines ‘S.O.S Gisborne'. The wines are marketed by Fletcher Griffin Ltd, these being the first releases. They are simple, clean, modest wines that should be sold at value prices.
