The Writer’s Block ‘Heritage Block’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2013

08-Dec-2014
The crafting of The Writer’s Block ‘Heritage Block’ Pinot Noir 2013 is the perfect example of the ethos by which Brendan Seal operates. He sources small parcels of interesting and excellent fruit to make limited quantities of distinctive wine at his Packspur Wine Studio facility at Lowburn. From the 2013 vintage, Brendan has already released a Bendigo Pinot Noir of considerable depth and structure (click here to see my review). Now follows this ‘Heritage Block’ wine, so-called as it utilises fruit from one of the pioneer vineyards, established 23 years ago in the Alexandra sub-region. The vineyard is still in the hands of the original owners who lovingly tend it, intimate with the behaviour of every plant, and fully aware of the potential of the site. Brendan managed to obtain grapes from them, and he has put his interpretation on the resultant wine. www.thewritersblock.co.nz
