Ti Point 2014 Summer Wines and 2013 Sacred Hill HALO Reds

29-Dec-2014
The Ti Point and Sacred Hill wine brands are interlinked on a number of levels. Ti Point was established by the Haslam family, with three generations of women involved in the coastal Matakana vineyard which serves as the base. The vineyard is devoted primarily to Bordeaux varieties. Ti Point has a full range of which includes those made from fruit from other regions. Winemaker Tracy Haslam is married to David Mason, one of the founders of Sacred Hill, and her wines are distributed by the Sacred Hill company. Here, I review three 2014 wines, two rosé styles from Matakana and a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, ideal for summer. www.tipoint.co.nz

The ‘HALO’ tier of Sacred Hill was created initially as an on-premise label offering wines with accessibility and a stylistic difference of incorporating some more interesting complexities. Moving along the path of its development, it now represents smaller parcels of wine from premium vineyards in Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay. The releases this year have had an up-grade in presentation, and have a similarity to the ‘Special Selection wines. www.sacredhill.com
