Tiki and Maui 2014 Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs

21-Oct-2014

The Upper Wairau Valley vineyards of Royce and Sue McKean, planted in 2007 and 2008 are yielding excellent quality fruit with consistency. The 225 ha of vines come under the care of viticulturist James Nightingale, and the fruit is transformed into wine by experienced winemaker Evan Ward. A number of labels are made for the various markets, both domestic and international, with the ‘Tiki’ brand being premium, with ‘Maui’ offering more accessibility. The 2014 wines looked to be successful when I had a quick taste of them during the McKeans’ visit to Wellington in July (click here to see my report). Here, I review the 2014 Maui and Tiki ‘Estate’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs. www.tikiwine.com
