Tiki Wines – Pushing Limits

08-Feb-2011
With the first releases being the 2009s, Tiki Estate Wines is very much a new entrant. However, the philosophy of owners Royce and Sue McKean is one of the best quality. Establishing three vineyards on the western limits of the Wairau Valley, they are set to prove the critics wrong that the area is too cold for grape-growing. With the advice of viticultural guru Dr David Jordan and abilities of experienced winemaker Evan Ward, successful wines from the ‘Wairau Alpine Valley' region of Marlborough have joined those from the McKean's vineyard in the Waipara Valley and from Sue's father, Denis Marshall's site in the Gibbston Valley. www.tikiwine.com
