Tono 2015 Albarino and Rosado, and 2014 Tempranillo

06-Oct-2015
Tono is one of three brands created by Ant and Fiona Mackenzie as they begin their own venture in winegrowing, following Ant’s enviable record of winemaking that spans over two decades. Tono is the nickname of Antonio in Spanish, and relates to Ant’s name (Anthony) and his and Fiona’s Hawke’s Bay home, as well as the strong Spanish connections to Hawke’s Bay involving Anthony Vidal. The Tono brand features wines with a Spanish theme, based on varietals common to that country, made in the styles that are enjoyed there. I reviewed the first Tono releases in June, earlier this year (click here to see). The wines have clearly proven to be very successful, as the second releases are coming on stream. I review them here. www.antswines.co.nz
