TOSQ Central Otago 2014 Rosé and 2013 Pinot Gris

11-Sep-2014
One of the Artisan Winegrowers of Central Otago, the TOSQ label represents the Thompson family’s venture into their own wine after a number years of growing grapes to supply other wineries from their Pisa vineyard. The letters of the name ‘TOSQ’ come from the names of the family members – Thomo (father Carl, as he is known), son Oscar, mother Sue and son Quinn. Their first wines came from the 2009 vintage, made by Dan and Sarah-Kate Dinneen and their team at the Maude winery, and this arrangement exist to date. The range includes a Pinot Gris from the 1 ha ‘Roadside’ Block’, a Pinot Noir from 3 ha in the ‘Terrace’ site and a Flora from 4 rows originally thought to be Pinot Gris. There is now a Rosé wine made. Here, I review the new 2014 Rosé and 2013 Pinot Gris, the latter wine to be released later this year. www.tosq.co.nz
