Valli Wine – Experiencing a Place

28-Oct-2011
Valli Vineyards is all about place. It is the personal venture of Grant Taylor, one of the foundation stones of the Central Otago wine industry, working in the region since 1993, fashioning some of the finest wines there. Valli Vineyards, named after his great-great grandfather Giuseppe Valli, an Italian winemaker who emigrated to New Zealand in 1870, is Grant's interpretation of Otago sub-regional character with Pinot Noir. The wines are sourced from sites in the Gibbston Valley, Bannockburn and the Waitaki Valley and express these vineyards with clarity. Grant also produces Riesling wines, a dry version from old Alexandra vines and a botrytised release from Lowburn fruit. The wines are essential for those who wish to understand the winegrowing land in Otago. The new releases, a remarkable range, are reviewed here. www.valliwine.com
