Vynfields Peche de Noire 2011 & Pinot Rosé 2012

31-Dec-2012

As a specialist Pinot Noir and Riesling producer in Martinborough Vynfields have diversified the styles with each grape variety due to consumer demand. Besides the ‘estate' and ‘Reserve' Pinot Noir wines, John Bell and Kaye McAulay make a brace of rosé wines of very different expressions from Pinot Noir fruit. The dry rosé style, named ‘Pêche de Noire' for its peachy colour, is one that is a favourite for them, a style acquired so during their travels to Europe. John and Kaye have found this style benefits from an extra year of bottle age, and is thus held back for release. The slightly sweeter version, named ‘Pinot Rosé' they have found to be more popular among their clientele, and is immediately accessible, and is released earlier. Here are my reviews of the two current Vynfields rosé wines. www.vynfields.com
