Waimea Estates 2013 Whites and 2012 Pinot Noir

17-Oct-2013
2013 is a most significant year for Trevor and Robyn Bolitho, as it was in 1993 that they founded Waimea Estates. They have seen the business grow to owning 150 ha of vineyards and their son Ben take responsibility for the viticulture then becoming the general manager in 2010. On the way to becoming one of the largest producers in the region, Waimea Estates wines have been awarded over 100 gold medals and almost two dozen trophies in national and international competitions. The range of wines made is remarkably diverse and all of the wines are successful, as my reviews indicate. I’ve seen the wines, and their presentation and marketing come together over the past couple of years, and just recently a new website has been commissioned, and the café and cellar door renovated. It’s all new and fresh, but based on foundation built over 20 years of work. Here I review the new 2013 whites and rosé, and the 2012 Pinot Noir in the spirit of a fully revitalised and strong business. The wines are even more elegant and appear very skilfully put together. www.waimeaestates.co.nz
