Walnut Block ‘Collectables’ Sauvignon Blanc 2013

22-Aug-2013
The Walnut Block wines of Clyde, Nigel and Helen Sowman are based on the 17 ha family vineyard in the Rapaura district of the Wairau Valley, planted in 1996. A walnut tree, over 100 years old is a feature of the site. The vineyard achieved BioGro Organic certification in 2013 under Nigel’s viticultural management, and the wines are made with the consultancy of the highly experienced Gordon Ritchie. The Walnut Block range features Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The ‘Collectables’ range of wines has labelling that depicts an adaptation of the 1898 ‘Kiwi’ stamp with the walnut tree, and consists of a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Here I review the new 2013 ‘Collectables’ Sauvignon Blanc. www.walnutblockwines.co.nz
