Wanaka Road Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

06-May-2013
The last five years have seen the secondary ‘Earth’s End’ and ‘Wanaka Road’ labels of Mount Edward from Duncan Forsyth in Central Otago take a life of their own. The reduced demand for the very highest tiers of wine due to the GFC has meant a stronger market for value wines, and the quality of fruit going into such labels has improved to such a degree that these second wines are indeed worthy of attention in their own right. The ‘Wanaka Road’ brand now encompasses Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, the key and most popular varieties from Central Otago. Here is my review of the new release 2011 Pinot Noir. www.mountedward.com
