Wild South 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and 2013 Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir

08-Jan-2015
The Wild South brand of Sacred Hill has been developed with a full range of Marlborough varietals including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wines are based on two company vineyards, ‘Hell’s Gate’ at the start of the Waihopi, planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, and the ‘Hammond Estate’ site in Renwick, with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The fruit from these vineyards is supplemented by contract grown grapes from the Wairau, Waihopai and Awatere Valleys, as well as the Rapaura and coastal regions. The very experienced Kel Dixon has winemaking responsibility. Here, I review the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, and 2013 Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. www.wildsouthwines.co.nz
