Wycroft 2009 Pinot Noirs

16-Nov-2010
With an annual production of less than 250 cases of wine, from 0.5 hectares, albeit close-planted, Lawrie Bryant's Wycroft label is a true boutique. Only Pinot Noir is produced from the new Dijon clones, and the demand has been steadily increasing to the point that Lawrie has introduced an earlier-drinking companion under the ‘Forbury' designation. This has proven extremely popular too, and now the Wycroft wines incorporate fruit from neighbouring vineyards to supplement that grown on the home site just 4 km west of Masterton. I had a preview of the two 2009 Wycroft wines at the Wairarapa Wines Harvest Festival in March this year and have been looking forward to a proper review. www.wycroft.co.nz
