36 Bottles Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 17-Jul-2013
Clones 5, 6, 667 and 777 from the Bendigo region, given a cold soak and fermented with 15% whole bunches to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 36% new French oak. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with some purple hues at heart, lighter on rim. This has an elegantly presented, refreshing and deep bouquet of dark red berry and cherry fruit with a fresh, cool herb underlay. This is youthful and primary in expression, with an attractive red floral lift. Medium-bodied, bright and aromatic dark cherry fruit flavours show with red and violetty florals. The flavours are juicy and bright, enlivened by fine acidity, and have good depth. The tannin extraction is refined and a feature of the mouthfeel, the textures silken and smooth. The palate has good linearity, leading to a long and sustained finish with spicy oak notes intermingling with red fruits. This is an elegant and bright Pinot Noir, youthfully aromatic and showing finesse on the palate. Serve with poultry, pork and most Asian cuisine over the next 5+ years. 18.0+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $31.95 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
