Blanket Hills ‘Sun Down’ Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 18-Apr-2013
Brilliant, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The bouquet is elegant and gently expressed with aromas of ripe gooseberries, white florals, and hints of tropical fruit with mineral notes all harmoniously integrated. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, flavours of ripe gooseberries, yellow stonefruits and citrus show purity allied with subtle richness. This is soft and refined in texture and mouthfeel, with the palate possessing good weight and presence. The integration and balance is a feature, and lacy acidity provides freshness which carries the flavours to a soft and lingering finish with very fine, drying textures. This is a softly integrated and refined Sauvignon Blanc with subtle richness and weight. Match with Mediterranean-inspired salads, vegetables, seafood and poultry over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the Bridge Pa Triangle district, fermented at a moderately cool 14°C to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L rs, the wine undergoing batonnage. 295 dozen made. 17.5/20 Apr 2013 RRP $19.99
