Clearview ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Semillon 2016

Semillon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Mar-2017
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues and some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and up-front with good depth of green stonefruit aromas interwoven with fresh herb and grassy notes, unfolding nutty oak with smoke nuances. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has up-front flavours of green stonefruits and grass, with a layering of nutty and toasty oak, along with creamy barrel-ferment and lemon-curd MLF elements. The palate is open and mouthfilling, and the wine flows easily along a soft-textured, phenolic line with fresh lacy acidity, leading to a sustained, grassy and nutty finish. This is an up-front, mouthfilling Semillon with grassy and nutty flavours along with lemon-curd and toasty notes on a fresh palate. Match with herb-marinated seafood, poultry and pork dishes over the next 3 years. Te Awanga fruit indigenous yeast fermented in a 1 y.o. puncheon to 12.6% alc. and 1.0 g/L RS, the wine aged 11 months in barrel undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 17.5-/20 Mar 2017 RRP $28.00
