Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Malbec Rosé 2011

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Oct-2011
Bright, deep, purple-hued, pink-red colour with a lighter rim. The nose is fine and intense with rose-petal and ripe raspberry aromas, fresh and bright in expression with delicate herb and mineral nuances. Dry on palate and medium-bodied, this has a fruit burst of sweet, juicy raspberries lifted with exotic red florals. There is a sweetness and succulence to the fruit, tending lusciously rich, but balanced by smooth, lacy, refreshing acidity. The depth of fruit is a highlight, and the wine features a long, fruit-driven finish. 91% Merlot and 9% Malbec from selected Hawke's Bay vineyards, given skin contact and fermented to 13.0% alc. and 5.0 g/L rs. Bright-fruited and succulent, this is a plush and refreshing, classical rosé to match with antipasto, tapas and appetisers over the next 2 years. 18.5/20 Oct 2011 RRP $23.99
