Esk Valley Hawke’s Bay Rosé 2013

Rose from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 28-Jan-2014
First made in 1991. Merlot and Cabernet Franc from selected Hawke’s Bay vineyards, given a brief period of skin contact and cool-fermented to 14.0% alc. and 1.7 g/L RS. Bright cerise-pink colour with youthful purple hues on the rim. This has a fresh, up-front and elegantly proportioned nose with aromas of raspberries and cream, strawberries and cranberries with a floral and confectionary lift. Dry to taste, flavours of raspberries and cream, strawberries and red fruits form a softly concentrated core on the palate. The acidity is restrained, allowing soft, dry textures to carry the luscious fruit. Confectionary and lifted florals add to the sweetness and the flavours flow with good liveliness and energy to a long, concentrated finish. This is a softly concentrated Merlot-based rosé with raspberries and cream fruitiness and hints of bon-bons. Serve with antipasto and on the veranda in the sun over the next 18 months. 18.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $20.00
