Flying Sheep Hawke’s Bay Sangiovese 2011

Sangiovese from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 04-Aug-2013
100% Sangiovese destemmed and given a cold soak, and fermented to 13.1% alc., the wine aged in French barriques. Moderately deep, garnet-hued red colour with some brick on edge. The nose is elegant with lifted, fragrant aromas of earthy red plums entwined with spicy, cedary oak notes. Medium-bodied, light plum and red berry fruit flavours are infused with cedary oak, forming a gently luscious and supple palate. The tannin extraction is modest and provides a light framework and supple textures, and the soft mouthfeel carries to a dry, grainy finish with spice and cedar flavours. This is an elegant, medium-bodied Sangiovese with spicy, cedary oak and gentle mouthfeel. Match with poultry, pasta and pizza over the next 3-4 years. 16.5+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $30.00
