Frizzell Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Mar-2012
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Hawke's Bay, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged in French oak barriques. Very dark, deep ruby-red colour with black hues. The nose is soft and integrated with aromas of spicy black plums and cedar, along with hints of leather and earth from secondary development. Medium-full bodied, this has soft, mellow flavours of dark berry fruits and plums, and spices and cedarwood. Soft tannin extraction underlines the palate and moderate acidity contributes a round mouthfeel with drying textures. The wine has good length with attractive liquorice flavours. Drink this mellow flavoured, but structured Bordeaux-varietal blend over the next 4-6 years with slow-cooked game meat. 16.5-/20 Mar 2012 RRP $22.95
