Goldie Waiheke Island Cabernet/Merlot/Franc 2010

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 16-Apr-2012
Full, even ruby-red colour with a little garnet on edge. The bouquet is fine and penetrating with fresh, aromatic black and red berry fruits lifted with red floral perfumes, unfolding to reveal earthy notes and subtle cedary oak. Medium-full bodied, this is elegantly proportioned and very fine-featured with bright, ripe and luscious blackcurrant and blackberry fruit flavours, along with sweet red fruit nuances. The oaking is very sensitive and the wine has real harmony with its fine structure, refined tannins and balanced acidity. The palate shows an excellent line, leading to a very long finish with dark berry and spice nuances. This is a concentrated and classically proportioned Bordeaux-styled wine that will match roast lamb or beef over the next 7-10 years. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 20% new French oak. 18.5/20 Apr 2012 RRP $50.00
