Greystone Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 14-Jan-2014
Full, bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is full and voluminous with bright, aromatic gooseberry fruit in a detailed and integrated amalgam with green stonefruits, herbs and oak spices and smoky barrel notes. This has layers of interest and an excellent clarity and freshness of expression. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, concentrated and well packed flavours of gooseberries and spiced green stonefruits are interwoven with herbs and nutty, smoky oak elements. The mouthfeel is beautifully succulent and lusciously fine-featured, showing delicate phenolic textures alongside mouthwatering acidity. The poise, tension and balance is striking and delicious, and the palate leads to a very long and sustained finish with aromatic fruit and herb nuances. This is a beautifully refined, succulent and poised oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with complex detailing. Serve with antipasto, seafood and poultry dishes over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from two new French clones from the 2 ha ‘Block 13’, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS. 19.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $22.00
