Haha Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Aug-2014
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The nose is gently voluminous with good depth of aromatic, ripe yellow stonefruits with yellow floral and savoury spice nuances adding interest. A steely, minerally freshness enlivens the nose. Off-dry to dry in taste and medium-bodied, light white and yellow stonefruit flavours are nuanced by savoury florals and a suggestion of honeysuckle. The palate is rounded with discreet acidity providing good balance and freshness. The mouthfeel grows in presence and finely managed phenolic textures guide the wine to a sustained, subtly-flavoured finish with good vinosity. This is a subtly-flavoured dryish Pinot Gris with good weight, presence and vinosity. Match with most white meat dishes, semi-hard cheeses and Asian fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Hawke’s Bay ‘high country’, fermented to 13.0% alc. and 7 g/L RS. 17.5-/20 Aug 2014 RRP $15.99
