Harwood Hall Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-Nov-2018
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden tints and some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is firm and tightly concentrated with deep and intense aromas of savoury yellow stonefruits and citrus fruit melded with nutty lees and oak notes, and a suggestion of creamy barrel-ferment. Medium-full bodied, the palate has rich and elegantly concentrated flavours of ripe yellow stonefruits and savoury citrus fruit, along with complexing creamy barrel-ferment and nutty lees and oak elements. The fruit forms a positive heart and flows along a light-textured phenolic line with balanced acid freshness, leading to a light finish. This is an elegant and complex detailed Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus fruit along with nutty lees and oak on a light, textural palate. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 years. Hawke’s Bay fruit from a single vineyard, fruit fully barrel-fermented to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 10 months on lees in 40% new French oak with partial MLF. 17.5/20 Nov 2018 RRP $24.99
