Karikari Estate Karikari Peninsula ‘Wild’ Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
A fully wild yeast fermented component for the Estate Chardonnay was bottled separately. Brilliant straw-yellow with golden hues to the colour, this has a very full, weighty, broad nose with savoury, smoky aromas alongside ripe melon and mealy fruit elements. There are some caramel-like oxidative characters and buttery notes. A full-bodied wine at 13.0% alc., this is a forward style with fat, ripe tropical fruit and buttery, nutty flavours along with a savoury earthiness. The palate is warm, round and soft. Nutty oak and oxidative elements make this a big, rustic ‘softie' that will be best to drink over the next 2-3+ years. Match with roasted pork. 16.0/20 Feb 2011 RRP $40.00
