Lamont Bendigo Central Otago Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 01-Feb-2015
Bright, very pale straw yellow colour, near colourless on edge. The nose is soft and full with well-concentrated aromas of white and yellow stonefruits along with subtle pear and honeysuckle elements, revealing a refined, flinty, mineral layering in the glass. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a softly rich melange of stonefruits, florals and minerals, with nuances of honey and flint. The flavours beautifully balanced and harmonious, and follow a fine-textured line with excellent acid poise. This is very elegant, and the wine is carried by the acidity to a dry, tightly bound finish. This is a youthfully fresh and harmoniously balanced, dryish Pinot Gris with stonefruit and floral flavours that will reveal greater richness over the next 4+ years. The 11 vintage from this site. Hand-picked fruit, clones Sel Ovaille and 2-15, given brief skin contact. 95% cool stainless-steel fermented, with 5% in old barrel leaving 57 g/L RS, blended to a final 13.2% alc. and 6.6 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Jan 2014 RRP $27.99
