Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Jul-2014
Fruit primarily from Maraekakaho with a smaller portion from Crownthorpe, barrel-fermented to 13.0% alc. and dryness, the wine aged in seasoned oak for 11 weeks. Bright, full straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. This has a shy, light and soft nose with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits with some depth, unfolding notes of honey and nuts. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a deep, softly-packed and concentrated core of yellow stonefruits entwined with honeysuckle flavours. The fruit has a lusciousness and richness and flows smoothly along a fine-textured fine, with light, lively acidity enhancing the aromatics. Florals and honeysuckle feature on a rich, sustained finish. Shy on bouquet, this dry Pinot Gris has a soft and gently rich palate with plenty of presence. Serve with Asian fare over the next 3+ years. 18.0-/20 Jul 2014 RRP $25.00
