Mills Reef ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 11-Sep-2016
Bright, very light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. This has a fresh and tightly concentrated nose with subtle aromas of gooseberries entwined with fresh herbs and chalky, mouthwatering wet-stone minerals. The aromatics have clarity and purity. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is tightly bound with crisp and clear, subtle flavours of gooseberries, fresh herbs and aromatic white florals. The mouthfeel is taut and zesty with thirst-quenching acidity, and the palate follows a very fine-textured and concentrated line. The wine leads to a refreshing, stylishly rich, sweet-fruited, mouthwatering finish. This is a crisp and taut Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, herb and white floral flavours on a mouthwatering palate. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 2 years. Fruit from the cooler, elevated Puketapu terraces and cool-fermented in tank to 12.8% alc. and 2 g/L RS, the wine aged a short time on lees. 17.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $22.95
