Mission Hawke’s Bay Merlot 2015

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 29-May-2017
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on the edge with some youthful purple tints. The nose is full and well-proportioned with up-front, bright, primary fruit aromas of red plums with subtle notes of fresh herbs and redcurrants. The nose is gently presented. Medium-bodied, the palate is up-front with uncomplicated flavours of red plums, herbs and redcurrants. The flavours are open and accessible, and supported by light tannin extraction providing balancing structure and line. The acidity is integrated and the wine carries easily to a light, lingering, fruit-driven finish. This is a fresh, up-front, accessible Merlot with juicy plum and curranty fruit and a light tannin grip. Serve with antipasto, pasta and barbecued fare over the next 2-3 years. A blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit from inland sites including Ohiti Road, Bridge Pa Triangle and Gimblett Gravels, fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine matured in tank. 16.5/20 May 2017 RRP $16.50
