Ngatarawa ‘Glazebrook’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Jul-2015
Brilliant, even, lemon-straw yellow colour with green-gold hues. This has a very fresh, clean, pure and elegant nose, with subtle white and yellow stonefruit aromas and a subtle nutty layer that unfolds with mouthwatering mineral elements. Citrussy fruit richness and lees detailing becomes revealed with aeration, and grows in depth and taut intensity. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a subtly bound core of yellow stonefruits and tropical fruits that gently grows in sweetness and richness, unveiling nutty and toasty oak elements. The mouthfeel is crisp, refreshing and lively from brisk acidity, and the wine follows a fine phenolic thread that carries the flavours to a crisp, dry, lingering finish with stonefruit clarity. This is a lively, fruit-focussed Chardonnay with subtle richness and concentration. Match with seafood, poultry and Pacific Rim fare over the next 3-4 years. Hawke’s Bay fruit fermented in stainless-steel with French oak staves to 13.0% alc. and <2g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage, without MLF conversion. 17.5-/20 Jul 2015 RRP $19.00
