Pask ‘Gimblett Road’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet/Merlot/Malbec 2013

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 08-Jun-2015
A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 10% Malbec from Gimblett Road, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in seasoned oak. Full, very dark, black-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is firm with good depth of concentrated primary fruit aromas of blackcurrants and blackberry fruits, alongside spicy black plums, infused with fresh herbs and subtle earthy notes. The aromatics show good clarity and focus. Medium to medium-full bodied, this has a concentrated core of blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, harmoniously layered with dark herbs, spicy plums and some earthy nuances. The fruit sweetness is integrated with the tannin extraction and the palate structure has balanced presence and mouthfeel. This flows with good drive and energy and carries to a sustained, soft finish of blackcurrants and plums. This is a well-balanced, harmonious Cabernet blend with good fruit depth and fine tannin grip. Serve with lamb, beef, venison, and semi-hard cheeses over the next 4-5 years. 17.0+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $22.00
