Sacred Hill ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Apr-2015
Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The nose is fresh with elegant grapefruit, white stonefruit and white floral aromas, lifted by youthful fermentation esters and unfolding nutty oak and buttery, lemon curd MLF elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, moderately deep grapefruit and stonefruit flavours form a good palate line with layers of creamy oak and buttery MLF nuances. The mouthfeel is fresh, fruit-focussed and harmoniously presented, and the wine flows smoothly following a soft-textured line. This has energy with good acidity providing liveliness, and the wine carries to a soft-textured finish with citrus and lemon curd notes. This is a fresh, fruit-focussed Chardonnay with grapefruit flavours and subtle creamy oak and MLF interest. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3 years. Hawke’s Bay fruit barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine undergoing batonnage. 16.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $24.99
