Salvare ‘Salvation’ Hawke’s Bay Blend 2009

Merlot from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Feb-2012
Moderately deep ruby-red colour, lighter on rim with some garnet hues. The bouquet is light and restrained, a little shy, showing soft red plum and berry fruit aromas, quite subtly integrated with nutty oak notes. An elegantly proportioned wine on palate with fine features and textures, soft red fruit flavours intermingle with savoury, nutty notes. The palate is finely textures and good acid poise and tension is a feature. The wine has a slender, but juicy, sweet finish with some earthy elements to the red fruit. 94% Merlot, 4% Syrah and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon from Gimblett Road and Bridge Pa, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in 55% new French oak. This is an elegantly presented red with subtle flavours and a fine, fresh mouthfeel. Serve with pork, veal or roasted lamb over the next 4-5 years. 16.5+/20 Feb 2012 RRP $39.00
