Torea Gisborne Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 15-Sep-2016
Bright, light lemon-yellow colour with golden hues, paler on the rim. This has a fine and firmly packed nose with intense aromas of savoury yellow stonefruit and citrus fruit, the aromatics beginning to develop secondary notes with nutty, earth and mineral notes. The nose has an underlying steely freshness. Medium-full bodied, the palate possesses ripe and sweet flavours of citrus and tropical fruits along with a savoury, secondary stonefruit layer. Creamy, nutty and buttery oak-like and MLF elements unfold. The flavours gently fill the mouth and some alcohol presence adds to the roundness. The wine follows a light textured line with balancing acid freshness, leading to a nutty, buttery finish with tropical fruit elements. This is a full, ripe, citrus and tropical-fruited Chardonnay beginning to show secondary development, with creamy, nutty and buttery notes. Match with roast pork over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Patutahi and Golden Slope districts, cool-fermented to 13.9% alc., the wine undergoing MLF. 16.5/20 Sep 2016 RRP $16.99
